2016 - 17 | Calcified Form: Outer

Two inter-related suspended constructions

2016 - 17

Dimensions in mm:

300 w x 300 l x 300 h

Medium: laser cut 'Vario' perspex in six colour tints, Mexican calcite spheres, white adhesive tape

Current location: artist's studio

Artist’s notes: Calcified Forms comprise two inter-related constructions, both being derived from one set of material with no waste. Both constructions explore the interconnection of planes to create three-dimensional forms. Both enclose a calcite sphere, giving volumetric contrast against the transparent planes.

Outer is suspended below Inner, suggesting an escape of one from the other. Both turn slowly through air currents, and when spot lit, changing coloured shadows and reflections from the forms are cast on the surrounding environment.
