introduction

is an ongoing artistic inquiry by Carole Gray that draws on

concepts in astronomy,

mathematics, architecture and physics.

A new body of three-dimensional constructions has been generated, that explore space as a ‘material’ and our perception of that space.

Various geometric forms materialise ideas about ambiguous space,

using transparency, translucency, and opacity to reveal, obscure and hide.

Digital making combined with the hand made produces a specific aesthetic of making.

The inquiry contributes to the

corpus of contemporary

constructed art and the understanding of its context.

Construction

is an

organised activity.

In the method one is the

craftsman,

in the invention

of the method and

organisation

one is the artist.
